News

Max and his team mates at The Hurst entered a their team into the British Schools Karting Championships early in January. The first race was held at the Woodley Kart Centre in Reading and although they were the youngest team by far they got to third place which was enough to secure a place in the South of England regional finals..Brilliant start to the season!

The Southern regional final were held at the Daytona track Sandown Park. the karts were much faster this time and the weather was bright and clear although a temperature of minus 2 and frost on the ground would be the least of their worries. The other teams looked so professional and were obviously sponsored by corporate money....flash suits with logos everywhere.

In the first heats Gregg did well to keep up and even surprised a few of the professional teams by starting 14 and coming 4th! A superb drive followed by Calum doing a blistering time behind the "stars of the day - Titan Motor Sport". Max went out feeling unsure of the competition only to be pleased to find he was one of the fastest on the track with a second place only 5 tenths behind Titan.

At the end of the day the boys were please to be in the top half of the board but when the results were announced "The Hurst Community College" came 3rd! Loud shouts were heard from the crowd..."they did it"! .....

Now on to the Nationals at Milton Keynes on the 27th March 2010.

Wish the boys luck....they will be up against the very best drivers in the country but if they drive like they did at Sandown Park they will be in with a chance.

Boys do well at BSKC FINALS ...

Breaking News: Greg with a fractured collarbone did a superb job handling the kart on a soaking wet track. Max suffers lost places trying to avoid a pile up on a hairpin and then tragically suffers engine failure on his last race, Callum does a great job holding his place in his final ...the boys did a fantastic job against much older competition and such bad luck on the kart reliability front.

Finally the guys finished in the top 30 in the country so not bad at all....medals alround and well done!!
